Since the opening of Vintage Fair I have had a lot of people wanting to know if it was my last event. A few months ago I posted that in September I will be returning to education and that things would change dramatically here at CHIC. When I posted that, even I wasn’t sure if Vintage Fair would be my last. Well Vintage Fair is open (and amazing by the way!) so I thought I’d take a moment to discuss the major changes underway, and the things I’m still not decided on. Let’s break it down!
Staff
You may have seen a few weeks ago that long-term staff member at CHIC Prue Genira stepped down from her role as an events assistant. After two long and hard years of work, Prue and Kristy (Seerose) both need some time to step back from the CHIC craziness and work out what to do next, so for now, CHIC Management’s official staff list is its creator, Keira Seerose, her partner, Caduceus Lorakeet, and a trainee assistant Catherine Fairport.
Vintage Fair & Culture Shock
We are hoping that the team (in whatever form it may be at that point) will be able to bring one of our annual events back to the grid next year. I personally love Vintage Fair and Culture Shock. Once I am back in education and can gauge my time management etc I will make a final decision on this, if the decision is to continue holding one annual event we will put it to a public vote which one it is, Vintage Fair, Culture Shock or something new.
The CHIC hunts!
We know you love the hunts, and our designers do too! So we are hoping that this December we can bring you the much loved With Love From… hunt for its third year. Remember though that the hunts are by invitation only. More news will come about this when it breaks!
Other events???
I am in my third year of running events and in the past years I have run almost one event a month every month! I absolutely adore running events and I am probably addicted to it 
but that pace of work can’t continue while I try to refocus my first life.
An individual event (whether its small in venue like Back 2 Black or big like Vintage Fair) all have a similar work load distribution. The work slowly increases over approximately 6 weeks, and the last 2 weeks are the busiest, and then the last week is extremely busy.
Whilst in education putting 2 weeks each month under that kind of strain is not possible if I want to succeed (which I do!). However there are other possibilities. Hunts for example have a completely different work load distribution. They are all the fun work which is quite light and enjoyable for the first three weeks and then pure hell on earth for the 48 hours preceding the opening. With a college time table, if a hunt opened midnight (the infamous CHIC 4pm SLT) on a Sunday, then I have a weekend to dedicate to making sure that the event is ready and to my (high!) standards. So this is manageable and I intend to try and fit these in to keep CHIC in your hearts.
There are a few other types of events that have a manageable work load, but for now, those are my little secret! But I will say that we hope that CHIC will stay in your minds until September 22nd – when we will show you what the new CHIC is all about.
Blogs
Finally its with some sadness that I announce the closing of our second CHIC site – www.CHIC-StyleGuide.com. CHIC is going to evolve into a new, more sedate form, and this blog is a huge investment into that brand that is not really feasible or affordable for the new CHIC. Also, I am the only person for whom that blog is their main blog, and I would like to explore my SL identity outside of CHIC. Whilst I remain proud and grateful of my time and my hard work here, I would like to be able to be more of myself, crazy, eccentric, random, weird, basically nuts, on my blog.
