Today we are regretfully announcing that Prue Genira has left the CHIC team (and SL) due to RL personal reasons. We are making this announcement so that the public know not to contact her to do with CHIC business from this point onwards. We will miss you as a team member and as a friend Prue, good luck.

CHIC Management will be joining the strike against SOPA and PIPA – “On Jan 24th, Congress will vote to pass internet censorship in the Senate, even though the vast majority of Americans are opposed. We need to kill the bill – PIPA in the Senate and SOPA in the House – to protect our rights to free speech, privacy, and prosperity. We need internet companies to follow Reddit’s lead and stand up for the web, as we internet users are doing every day.”

On Feb 11th 2012 CHIC will open the doors to “Back to Black” a mental health awareness event. I posted most of the information a few days ago but now we have 100 brands confirmed I’ve added to that post which brands will have which inspirational theme so far. Applications are still open but remember that we do check quality, original content, and the amount of brands we can allow into the event is limited.

In other news preparations have begun for the 2nd annual “Culture Shock” event which will open May 5th 2012. It will be sponsored again by the fabulous MODAVIA Productions and will benefit our choosen charity Médecins Sans Frontières – who kindly last year posted the username of the account receiving the funds, acknowledgement of the event and a final total on their official website so you can be sure they are receiving the money. We were so appreciative of them taking the time to get to know SL and come in-world that we decided to have Culture Shock benefit them again this year.

CHIC Management began June 4th 2010 with our first event “The Black and Blue Fair”. Items were created and sold in a small venue with mental health facts printed on the walls, and information about mental health issues in note dispensers and put inside some of the product boxes (where designers agreed).

CHIC all began with my passion to spread the word about mental health and its affect on absolutely everything we do. Including the people we know, how we interact with them, how they react to us… everything. We covered issues that were wide ranging like bullying, to more specific like anorexia nervosa.

This February I’d like to go back to CHIC’s roots and using the reputation CHIC has accumulated over the years remind people about the serious issues that I feel so strongly about.

+ Your photo must include one of the NEW products sold at Vintage Fair 2011 by one of the brands involved in the event.
+ Your photo can have a “Mature” rating but keep it tasteful.
+ Your photo must be submitted to our FLICKR GROUP.
+ Your photo must be named “Vintage Fair – (Your Name)” and have a link to this page in your photos description
+ You must credit the model and the photographer in your photo’s description. You must also state which one you are. The person submitting the photo will win the prize. If the same photo is submitted once by the model and once by the photographer and that photo is decided to be the winner, the photographer would receive the prize.
+ By entering we have the right to include your photo on our website or at the Fair itself.
+ We prefer it if you credit your pose creator and the product you are wearing from Vintage Fair’s creator, but this is not essential.

NEW at CHIC

Have you heard about the new CHIC update group? We started an in-world group for people to stay up to date about CHIC events, including opening, closing and most importantly when the applications open.

We also use this group as a bloggers pool. Anyone interested in blogging a CHIC Management event just applies for a bloggers tag (auto accepted when we go through them every few weeks) and then every time we have an event we look through the pool (and those applications we accepted) to see who might suit covering the event.

This means the group offers an audience of people who love to know whats new, right as its released. It also includes loads of members of the public who love to stay up to date with what CHIC’s doing to get the deals at our events. Perfect people to advertise your latest releases to, and guess what? It’s free.

All you have to do is apply for brand approval, remember CHIC takes quality control very seriously, but we never say no. If you don’t get approved right away you are moved into a seperate data sheet and we reguarly go back and see how your brand has progressed until your ready for a CHIC lifestyle.
